okay so i have always been interested in music and in the guitar. without thinking i bought one of ebay, a guitar pack, for about 31 bucks, 50 with the shipping. do you think i made a wise choice? i know zip about guitars and now i have one. i am thinking of getting it checked by a guitar technician and see if the guitar is alright and in good condition. but i'm also confused on how i will learn who to play it. i got some book from the library, (my family can't aford and lessons.) but are there can sites or books you would recommend so i can get started. i have so many songs that i want to learn but i frist want to know the basics. please help!

Well, I wouldn't say it was a wise choice -- a $30 guitar is ... , but you already made the choice, no harm giving it to a guitar technician to check it out.
What kind of guitar did you get? And what kind of music you want to play with the guitar?

Go for it dude, at least with a cheap guitar you can always upgrade when you start to get the hang of playing chords, those kind of rock songs you like can be quite easy to learn as they are mostly bar chords, i suggest learning how to read guitar tabs if you cant read music, or learn the basic chords first. The only thing is with those cheapish silvertones is that they dont like to stay in tune! So id suggest getting an electronic tuner or use the guitar tuner provide don this website. Hope these help. check these sites out. learn the basic chords first such as Am,C,D,Em, and G and go from there

i have no clue what that guitar looked like because 30 dollars is a small amount when paying for a guitar, but as long as it doesnt collect dust in your attic, go for it.

if you learn how to play tabs those are a good start. There are sites online that show you how to make guitar chords but i recomend getting a teacher. You learn the fastest this way and they are physically there to help you with any problems you encounter

I sugest that you refer to the internet to teach you some chords also. I find that if you recognixe the notes enough and you liste to a song over and over again you may be able to teach yourself to play it.

I bought a $30 guitar from Giant Tiger just to smash it. Does that answer your question?
Sorry its harsh, but if you payed 30 bucks for a used guitar its a piece of junk.
