Can anyone please please please describe to me how to do picking on the guitar as I have no teacher. I exspecially would like to know how to do it on The Gambler by I don't know who and Country Roads by John Denver. Thanks all.

personly I find your picking style a unique thing you devlop yourself to an extent

for instance I down pick most stuff beacause i come from a thrash and haedcore punk background

im from a metalcore hardcore band and i use heavy palm muting so u might want to learn to pick the strings 3 times up and down all 6 strings thats what my guitar teacher told me to do to learn to alternate pick or tremmelo pick or another type of picking lol
learn the basics first how to read tab get to know your fretboard... learn every note on there.. once u done allot of scales etc improvise using palm muting pinch harmonics etc ..well it realy depends what genre of music you want to play like blues clasical rock metal ect
