I'm a novice at guitar. I can read most of the chords, however I don't understand the chord notation "A/C#" or others with the same notation. What does it mean?

Hi, there

the A means to play an A and the c# means to play a c# in the bass.

so when you take a normal A you would properly use the fingers 1,2,3 on the according strings 2,3,4 now with that in mind and strumming your main A will be from the 5th string,

An A/C# you can get by Barre in 2nd fret and the 3rd finger on the 5th string on 4th fret your C#.
