pretty much everyone goes through it, they form the calouses that will help allow you to play a lot more without your fingers hurting and such

I've been playing guitar for decades, and I've never once had a finger blister. I'd have to say that's abnormal. (I do of course have callus on my left-hand fingers.)

I've never gotten a blister, just calluses. Maybe you are playing too much before you built up calluses?

What hand do you have finger blisters on? I've never gotten blisters on my fretting hand, but when I was learning ukelele, my teacher made me play with our fingers. He never let us use picks. Man, blisters suck.

I play both nylon-string acoustic and steel-string electric, and I very often play steel-string electric with right-hand classical technique (no pick). I've never had a finger blister in either hand. (I have had plenty of toe blisters in my time, but that's another story.)
In any case, I think we can say with relative impunity that anyone who does get blisters from playing the guitar is likely attempting too much too soon. If your fingers start to hurt, Mother Nature is probably sending you a message. Listen to it.
