Hi guys,
I have to agree with your teacher. In my opinion if you want this piece to sound good you need to either perform a multi-track recording or play it as a duet.
Would love to discuss this piece with anyone interested.

I suspect it`s just your teacher hasn`t figured it out yet. Doug Niedt has an arragemnt (available on his web site). Different key than John Williams (his is E Major). The trick in Niedt`s arrangement is that the 5th string is dropped to G. That moves the notes around enough so you can finger the arpeggios! I suspect John Williams is doing something similar.

Does any one has knowledge of a good arrangement for Cavatina for Guitar and Orchestra? Or the score as played by John Williams with orchestra accompaniment version?
Some years ago I found one link to the free score of orchestra version in a Russian website. But my download failed. I could get only the Guitar Solo version.
I`ve since been looking for the score to buy for years.
Which version ? 17:13 on Thursday, January 22, 2004

If you are looking for the version that is played at the end of the film then this is an arrangement for 2 guitars, played by John Williams. They are both played separately. Personally, I believe that this is one of the nicest versions, but there are many around. JW shortened the film version from Stanley Meyers original and it has a lovely flute melody that plays over the top of the guitar. I have this scored out if anyone is interested, and also have a resonable MIDI rendition of the orchestra parts as well. I did it in Sonar, so can send this file for those who use it, otherwise it would be MIDI.
Don`t forget there are lots of versions. I believe that the original Meyers one was written for solo guitar and seems to be the one that most people play. For me, the movie veriosn wins hands down - just personal preference.

Rubbish !! Go get the sheet music then change your guitar teacher! Of course it`s not impossible .. I studied this piece over 30 years ago and I still have pleasure from it today....even if it did get somewhat over-exposed on "that" film. I start playing it after roughly two years. It`s well worth persevering with have great to have in your repertoire.

Hi guys,
This piece is magical. I have been looking for the sheet music but no luck. But i did find a good tab as a second resort.
I heard a friend (who is a "very" good classical guitarist) play this piece and i fell in love with it the first time i heard it. The site for the tab is
My goodness is there any way to get the Real sheetmusic that JW uses in his solo concerts for this piece? I cant stand Tablature music and I cant stand learning a watered down version of beautiful music. Been playing CG for a long time as a hobby and I would rather suffer through the real deal as a good excercise at the least.
