I have found it here http://www.SheetMusicPlus.com just type "cavatina" in the search box and presto-its the solo version with the regular notation and the TAB notation below it. Difficult but beautiful. Enjoy. Make sure your buying the guitar solo version not the piano solo version.

It certainly IS possible - as the sheet music clearly shows. However, this is a grade 7 level (or beyond) piece and definitely impossible for you if you`ve only been learning for a year. It is also pretty well impossible to play it as a solo and have it sounding anywhere near as good as the record. So your teacher is partly right, in that recording studio gismos came into play in creating the well-known John Williams recording. However, never never never underestimate the genius of John Williams who is about the most perfect classical guitarist who ever lived; and never never never underestimate just how fiendishly difficult it is for we lesser mortals to achieve much on this, one of the hardest-to-play of all musical instruments!

It is possible, there are many solo arrangements and one is on dirk.meineke.free.fr (no www). I can play it as can many better guitarists than me. However, if you`ve been playing for a year- it will be very hard.

I`ve been playing it for a long time and yes it`s a difficult one piece, but unfortunately I`ve lost the Notes when I moved to Ireland would anyone be so kind to send it to my Email address, Person who replies with the music score will be rewarded when I go and collect the rest of my stuff (Guitar Notes).
Collection: Canon in D Minor (Pachel Bell), Guitar Concert Spanish, Jarran hrese (spelling in spanish no good), + many other nice pieces.

I can assure you its possible to play cavatina. I have the sheet music of it,by John williams and would gladly forward it to yourself. The hardest part of it is a stretch of about 7 frets... Your guitar teacher needs sacking or slapping!!!

Greetings from Spain!!
"Cavatina" by S. Myers is absolutely POSSIBLE (I play it) but very hard for an amateur musician. It requires more than one year`s training. You can get the score on a beautiful site devoted to modern guitar scores:
However, the standard recording from the Deer Hunter slightly varies from the aforementioned score: the recording by J. Williams really sounds to be IMPOSSSIBLE because the same string vibrates simultaneously on certain occasions. Two recordings have been superposed.

DOUGLAS NIEDT RECENTLY RELEASED A CD ON WHICH HE PLAYS CAVATINA AS A SOLO. IT IS A MONSTER OF AN ARRANGEMENT, AND I DON`T THINK THAT ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH THE PIECE AS A DUO WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. YOU CAN FIND THE CD ON CDBABY.COM, AND THERE MIGHT EVEN BE A SAMPLE OF THE PIECE THERE.
