Okay! Been playing for a little over a year now and have the opportunity to get a new piano. Question is which is better a digital piano or the standard piano. I'd like to know what advanced players would prefer and why......
Opinions please.......

i've been playing for abt 11 years now n i would choose a standard piano anytime..although i've been using a digital piano for abt 6 years now [it's cheaper than a standard one]. sumhow i get more 'satisfaction' when i play a standard piano..the feel, the sound and expressiveness is totally different. my dream piano would b a grand piano, i only played it once for a few seconds n it was lovely..i noe i noe..u can tell me to dream on.. a digital would b sufficient if ur juz looking for one to practise on..

Acoustic pianos require a lot of work and care and good quality ones are expensive. A digital piano, for me, was a more convenient choice. It fits beter in the house and I can plug in headphones to concentrate better or so I don't bother my family. No tuning or check-ups needed. The keys are weighted, so it feels like a normal piano.
But still, nothing compares to the majestic sound of an acoustic.

well, i dunno about d weighted keys but i do remember i had trouble adjusting back to acoustic after practising on a digital at home..a digital piano's touch is lighter, as far as i noe, than d acoustic so my first few months of lessons after changing the piano[my upright was spoiled in a flood n since i was still young my parents didn't want to spend on a new upright] at home was horrible..my teacher was annoyed at me cuz i kept on 'missing' some notes or letting go of d notes too fast[she uses an upright] but after awhile u'll get used to both pianos n learn to adapt i guess..i'm now used to both but i would still choose to use a standard one whenever i can.. n hey, so far all my music exams use d standard piano anyway

It's true , there is some difference in the size of the keys between the two, even if they say full sized keys. ooooh but I think my dream would be a baby grand too. hahahh I dont need my dining room right? You got to play one? Oh must have been wonderful........Thanks for your opinion agent3x

right now i have a digital but at one time i had an old upright player piano. the digitals sometime have a hammer like feeling. there is a difference but not much of one.i would go with the digital.
