The major thing I would suggest would be to listen to your teacher. Don't start out with bad habits like I did. I have payed for it in the long run. Also, try to learn to read music as soon as possible. Don't play the single notes with no staff for too long or it will be hard to transfer to real music. Follow your teacher;s instructions, and above all, have fun!

The whole reading music I can do!! I am currently in band and play the clarinet!! my teacher is my band director so that works out good!

Try your best to make piano a fun thing, not a chore. If you don't really enjoy playing, you shouldn't.
