I was just wondering...
I want to buy a digital piano, but I need a portable one. Now, I see there are quite a lot of them that are on stands, but I was wondering, are they just portable pianos that you can put on a stand, or are the pianos stuck to the stand? I mean, are the stand and piano seperate, or are they just like an accoustic piano, only digital?
I have a Korg SP-300. It's got a full-sized 88 weighted pressure-sensitive keys and is technically portable (it's designed for band gigging). However, you need a screwdriver to take it apart and move it, and it's pretty heavy (e.g. I can carry it myself no problem, but my parents or wife can't move it without help). I say it's the best compromise around in terms of cost, portability, authentic tone/feel/appearance, and electronic features (e.g. metronome, voices, external pedal, transposition).
the most portable pianos aren't stuck to the standard. i have one too, and i have an apart standard for it, i can easily move it. yamaha and roland have very nice portable pianos.
