I've been picking up most things very easily, but one things that is causing me trouble is playing with 2 hands.

A bit of info on my left hand. It's !****!ed. I can't seem to keep a rhythm with it, when my right hand starts my left hand either stops or slows down. Does anyone have any advice or should I just quit now =).

My humble advice:

No matter how slowly you have to play; even if you have to stop, look at your hands and by force of will move your fingers to the right spot, don't play a wrong note. Play the chords and melody one note at a time without regard to the actual note length or the tempo. Move to the next note(s) only when you've played the current note successfully.

Don't try to lear the whole song. Instead learn one chord. Learn one measure. Learn one phrase. Get that one bit right and then add to it.

If you do this one evening on a song like "The Rose" or similar, you will be playing it flawlessly in no time and be full of a sense of accomplishment.

Are you sef tought/teaching yourself?
If so, try to find a teacher.
If you can't, try this.
1. Play music made to streghthen the technique of the left hand.
2. Be paicent with yourself, play slowly.
3. Start out small, then work your way up to harder music.

Take a bar or a couple of bars and practice them over and over your fingers will fall into place start with right and and then left hand and then both together.

Your sub conciouse will take note and you have memorised whats comming up in the music so your fingers just fall into place it works for me.

I was learning a peice grade in 1 week practicing i still couldnt get the first 6 bars right then all of a sudden it just fell into place, a peice i thought would take me a couple of months to learn i did in 3 weeks.

play slowly and work your way to the speed it should be played at so your fingers know wheres they need to be on the keyboard
hope that helps

and thats the most common problem with playing piano is trying to combine 2 hands together so your not a lone lol

well .
I had the same problem with you .
Why don't you try to find a teacher ?

My teacher said to me that I had to play the right hand first, and then the left hand . I've done it . But when I tried to play together, everything became ruined . Haha .

Then I tried to play together, but with very very slow tempo . And then make it faster and faster, but keep watch the notes . try to not make a mistake . if you make a mistake, repeat it.

Yes, it was need a little bit long time, but it worked for me . Just try it if you want to .

lol i know what you mean i do right and then left and then together.

Now for me most piano was self taught i do have a tutor am learning stuff grade 7 but hes not sure what grade to place me on lol coz of me teaching myself am in that kinda inbetween stage lol

now i can play grade 7 but its taking time i do sight read music but it could be better i actually learnd to play the keyboard.

if i had learned to play the piano first 20 odd years ago then my playing would be a lot better.

i can play things like moonlight sonata and the 2nd movement to it and learning beethovens rondo in c just now so that give ya kinda idea what grade am on as think thats about grade 7 if am correct.

That's the best advise Learn the two hands separatly till you have them perfect. Then very slowly put them together, you'll find it's easy. If not go back to the really simple pieces in which the right hand does most of the notes while the left hand just throws in a note here and there, go right down to elementary level. If it fixes your problem it's worth the effort. But above all NEVER QUIT!
