a tie is is two OF THE SAME NOTES (as in an A tied to another A, or a G tied to another G) and u play these notes as one note. a slur looks the same except its two different notes that you play one after the other (not at the same time) very smoothly and connectedly. i think i got the melody thing to work; if i did, the first one is a tie, the second is a slur. see how they look they same except for one has the two same notes and the other changes?
<Added>
i dont think it worked; anyway the notes didnt come up on my screen :(

A tied note is played as one note. for example. A quarter note tied to another quarter note should be played like a half note.
Or a half not tied to a quarter note should be held for three beats instead of 2.
To help, my teacher drew a line through the tied note to help me remember not to play it. Anyway good luck.

I started playing with both hands after my fourth lesson. I found it quite easy but everyone is different
