This piece sucks! I love listening to it but I cant get my hand fast enough for the harp-like quality of the arpegios. Actually, in general, I`m having difficulty getting it up to speed. I`m 17 and have been playing all my life. I don`t need a teacher anymore but nonetheless, having trouble with the speed.

Moonlight Sonata IS easy to learn but it is hard to play and interpret CORRECTLY. You must have a comprehensive knowledge on the style of Beethoven, his uses of alternating dynamics ranging from very delicate passages to very forcefull and sforzandos. The piece does call for much hand strength and must be played dramatically. It calls for a showy display of technique. If you do not have the strength or technique to do so, dont play it. Beethoven would break piano's when he performed the movement, if you cant do the same and make music out of the piece, dont play it. Just kidding about breaking the piano, but what im trying to get you all to see is that you must understand what the composer was going through, feel his emotions, and the better you are to relating, the easier the piece will be. Understand?

It's not about the notes, it's about how you play. Don't you think even the simplest piece sounds better with dynamics and flow. I have played for 2 years but i've noticed even I can make it sound bearable if I think about how to play it. Oh and practise it slowly and speed it up later.
