I currently play snare in my skool`z drumline, but I`m going to try out for tenors for next year... any tips?

If I were you I would try to get you back and knees used to the weight its heavier than you think also work on your doubles and rotate your wrists, Oh and crossovers are very important get thoses down really well If I can help you at all I can get you music if you like plus I have two cousins one goes to Iowa State and the other to Notre Dame both play tenors so just ask or email me

yes, pretty much what he said, if you have any drumset experience, that'll help, i have about 2years on drumkit, and that helped a lot when i picked up the quads, and yea, they are waaaay heavier than a snare, but you gotta take into account, you're carrying 4 drums, not 1.

Just work on your speed. That's the hardest part for me. I officially play bass as far as marching goes, but am fluent in all percussion. The most complicated thing about tenors, to me, is the fact that you have to get your butt in gear to play them things!

A few things that might help...
You should try to get good at sightreading tenor music. It sounds kind of weird, but if you're used to most instuments where low notes are on the left and high notes are on the right, it takes a bit to get used to. If you can sightread fast notes, that will help a lot. Also, make sure you have correct grip. The grip on your mallets is different then snare. Finally, I've found that pracicing sweeps is what helps me the most on tenors. I think that it not only helps you with sweeps, but it helps you with double strokes, hitting the drums in just the right place, stick control, etc.
