Hi,
i need some help here. recently i have been practicing alot of 5/4 time signature. the next step for me is to implied 5/4 within a 4/4 context. so the question i wanna ask is if i am working at a tempo 120bpm . what is the tempo equivalent of 5/4 in 4/4. how is it calculated?

In 4/4 time, quarter note = 96 I think.
Why?
In 5/4 time, quarter note = 120 ...then each measure's time value is 120/5 = 24 (i.e. 120 bpm and 5 beats per measure = 24 measures per minute). Keep each measures' time value the same (i.e. 24) but now only 4 notes in a measure in 4/4, so 24 x 4 = 96 ... quarter note = 96 in 4/4.
