They arent bad, depending on how big you are they shouldn't be too heavy. And they are relativly easy to play, not very technical usually. I suppose you mean for a marching band. I played once and had a great time, I like them better than snare, and its easier to play.

Go to the multimedia and check out the "x & y axes" of tenor playing. It's really quite useful and he's a genius.

My two cents would be that quads require greater coordination and skill, not necessarily from a rudimentary persepective (as snare).
Don't be fooled, playing quads isn't easy... check out any DCI band and you'll see.
