So, while searching online for my new pair of marching sticks, I stumbled upon this website. Now, I just made snare on my drumline, and I am the only female to do so for a few years. The rest of the girls on my line are on bass/cymbol. This topic is probably done to death, but what is the general oppion on girl snare drummers. Personally, I am so proud its not even funny. But a few guys on the line are less than happy.

Is your drumline from the 50's? It sound like the "guys" in your drumline need a bit of a civil rights lesson.
I mean there was a girl on snare in my line this year and I wasn't too happy, but it wasn't because she was a girl, it was because she was a bitch.
Anywho, I think it's excellent that you made snare. To me it's that same as congratulating a boy who made snare, but if the gender difference means something to you then by all means be proud. I just think that the rarity of girls in drumline is for reasons other than ability, talent, or skill.
We need more girl drummers. All the testosterone gives me a headache.

I am not a girl but i am snare drummer for our drumline. I agree with snorkel I would congraduate you no matter if you are a girl or a boy. The main thing you want to do is practice and show them you are a good drummer.

But hey, congratulations on making snare, I was happy when I made snare, but I switch to quint toms a while back. As for those guys on your line, forget those sexist bastards :]

my band director is sexist.......we only have one girl on the drum line every year. this year i should have gotten back on the line but a girl who was older came and took my place so im in the pit again. the boys are so cocky. I have to hold the cymbols for the snare drummer and he is such an ass. GIRLS ON THE DRUM LINE ROCK!!!!! YEAH, GO GIRLS!!!!!

I'm a boy, and I think it's cool too see girls play drums(also verry attractive!)I really don't get why only boys should play drums... is there any reason why boys should be better(or worse) drummers?

Great job making snare!!!! i am a girl drummer and i think its awesome that u made snare. A girl on our line made snare this year too she is the first one in a longggg time. I am hoping to make snare next year
Any guy who saying things is stupid dont listen to them ur on snare cause u deserve it
