They only LET one girl on the line at a time? That's illegal. Women have just as much (if not more) musical talent and proficiency as men do...in fact, a while ago my drumline had an all female bassline, and it was the best one we've ever had. They did all the MSU run-around-the-bass-drums-while-doing-32's type stuff. Insanity.
Seriously though, someone has to talk to your superintendent or something aobut this...
I agree you should contact your local school district and your parents this also sounds like it can be the early signs of possible other issues with this person.... make sure you look into this for sure!
In all honesty, as a boy, girls focus better than boys. There are a total of 5 drumline girls and 9 Front Ensemble girls.... AND 2 OF THOSE ARE SECTION LEADERS!!
Hey, don't insult your own sex. Sure girls should be allowed in drumline, but they're no better than guys are at music. I'm sorry, but I doubt they have a 'girl slot' in the drumline, maybe the others sucked.
we have 3 section leaders, 2 of them girls. we have 6 girls on drumline all in the same grade, all on snare line. girls can be better than boys. they are all also in the top concert band
yeah you don't suck, and neither do the other girls "in the pit" as you mentioned. Perhaps they needed to downsize the drumline and decided the pit should take the hit. And maybe you don't suck but that doesn't necessarily mean you deserve a spot over someone else. Are you sure that's an actual rule or were you just !***!ed when you didn't make it and took what someone said a bit too seriously?
It sounds cold and a bit far fetched but stuff like this happens all the time; there's a simple misconception of a joke or hypothetical situation. However, if it turns out that this is an actual guideline for letting people on the line then you should immediately notify the administration about it.
If it is a rule, someone needs to go to the school board and protest. You can't discriminate against someone because of race, sex or sexual orientation.
Tell your parents.
If there is more than one girl who desires to be on the drumline and is talented and qualified, she should be there!
Did you actually read that it was a rule, or are you assuming it's a rule because it's always been that way.
Even catholic schools need to come with everyone else into the 21st century. Get active. Do some picketing. Kick some groins. If you want this enough then fight for it. Every girl on the drumline after that will know you for the one who changed everything.
