hey man the pdp ez-series drum set is very affordable msrp around 350 dollars and it comes with hi hats and a crash ride (the cymbals suck ass but are alright for starting out) my advice is get this set along with new remo pinstripe heads and buy a sabian b8 18 inch crash ride sabian b8 14 inch hi hats and a sabian b8 14 or 16 inch crash so u will be spending...
pdp ez series drum kit---$350
remo pinstripes 12,13,14 coated,16 inch head pack---$35
sabian b8 cymbal pack including all cymbals mentioned above---$150
total---$535
i hope i helped man this setup will serve you for quite a few years and these cymbals sound good enough to gig with when u start gigging
mmk i hope i helped good luck man

What kit did you end up getting? My first was a TAMA swingstar and that was so easy to use, unfortunantly it sounded like crap and all the chrome had turned into rust...ahh the memories.

if you want decent quality and to not pay too much, go with PDP.
they make decent drums for entry prices.
