hey,
there is a noticable rattling sound on my bari when i play my low c and i think something is viberating, i dunno. i have steady air flow and everything.
the other day it was in more notes. maybe its my air?? i have a retainer in when it was all the notes so maybe the low c thing is a problem with my mouth, i think the low c is actually something loose on the horn though. opinions?
well honestly i do not think it may be ur retainer b/c i play with one on my bari as well as all my saxes, but try taking out ur retainer once to see what happens. It may also be the bari sax itself. Try getting it checked...
yeah i played with the mouthpeice, reeds and ligature...
it doesent help. i can hear the sound coming from down really low to the ground...
grrr the horn is like, 40 yrs old anyhow.
thanks 4 ur help.
if anyone has anymore ideas shoot.
loose parts, probally. my low c key only comes 3/4 back up, so.
would it make sense if i said it really only happended when i was with the rest of the school band i play in? maybe the tubas viberate it more...... ???
i have two ideas, well really one is a question. 1: how many tubas r there? and 2: on the C key pad thingy, do u have some sort of cotton-like material between the the key pad thing and the post? sorry if i cant make this clearer....
alright well if you mean the little felt things that stop the keys from coming up and clicking, yes i have one. there are two tubas.
ugh, would any other instrument make the thing viberate?
Unlubricated key roller?
Unlubricated pivot?
long key vibrating against a supporting post, part way along its length. (No, nothing to do with the feet with cork on.)
Loose lyre screw?
Loose key guard screw?
Loose metal resonator with a metal rivet?
A spring slightly touching a part that it should not touch?
Any other metal part that is only just touching another metal part that it should not touch?
And yes, such parts could indeed be set into "sympathetic" vibration by a neighbouring loud, deep instrument.
For any technical questions on saxophone, you are far better to go to the experts at the saxontheweb forum, under the maintenance topic area. There is no end of information there from technicians, and an excellent search facility.
same thing happend to me about 6 months ago. The screws on your C guard most likely were bumped. They will still apear tight, but they arn't. Or maybe something else is rattiling higher on the bari, and the bell is amplifing it. Just some suggestions.
thanks everyone. its still happening but i got it checked out and no one could find anything. its only when i play when i'm by the euphoniums and tubas... but i dont know.
the sax is a piece of junk anyhow.
thanks a lot.
