(Yes, that is the correct way to spell embouchure; I looked it up)
Anyway, does anyone here use the "double-lip embouchure"?? For those who don't know what that is, it's when you cover your top row of teeth with your top lip and your bottom row of teeth with your bottom lip and the mouthpiece sits between your lips. If you do use that technique, do you like it?? I've never met anyone that uses the "bottom-lip embouchure".

Oops!! Sorry!! It should be I've never met anyone that uses the "double-lip embouchure". (It was late and I was tired...)

I think that would be extremely weird for me, I've never used that embouchure and I've never seen anyone do that either. But then again I think it's strange that you haven't seen anyone before who uses the bottom-lip embouchure. I use it, if that counts... And I know a few others who do to.

I was going to consider switching to the "double-lip", but if it affects how loud you play, then forget it!! I'm the only female alto saxophonist in our jazz band; I have to show to others that I can play as well as the boys...

Yeah, clenching lips on the mouthpiece won't allow you to "open up" like my teacher says.

And as I (the most specialist person ever) said: "Especially in a room with high ceilings!!".
Hi, everyone!! Try to ignore the "Specialist person ever" comment. It's an inside joke-thing.

^ Indeed, to put it like a friend of mine said. :"For crying out loud, it's a saxophone - not a foghorn!"

I tried using the "double-lip" embouchure for our last concert on the more "classical" stuff, and the "standard" for our jazz medleys and I found a little bit of difference...
