Can saxophones be made of something besides brass? Like wood, plastic, ebonite, or metal? Just curious.

A good-sounding sax was made from plastic. Do a Google on Grafton Saxophone.

BTW, they are an absolute nightmare to work on.
1. Coil springs launch themselves over the workplace when keys are removed. And...
2. Stack key linkage adjustments are made by turning little screws. But...
3. You cannot turn the screws without taking the stack keys off the instrument. And
4. You don't know how far to turn them until the keys are back on the instrument.
Sound like fun?
And, many common adjustment processes cannot be used because they risk breaking or melting plastic parts.

I had a little toy one when I was little. It was about 8 inches tall. It was made of a white plastic and had four keys made of orange, green, yellow, and pink plastics. It actually played somewhat well (to a 4-year-old's perspective)...
