I recently got my tongue pierced, during the holidays... and I totally forgot that I had to play my tenor saxophone for my AS Music Exam. I know it takes about 4-6 weeks to heal... but evenso, will it affect my playing?

I can't believe I didn't think about it before. Does anyone know if I can remove the piercing before the 6 weeks is over... or will it just heal up?

PLEASE REPLY.

That could be a major problem along the way.

W1ckedjo,

Looking at the photo your tongue is not excessively long, but it is more stocky. Based on those deminsions (from the photo) you might be able to get away with your piercing. Depending on what part of the tongue you normally use; you can keep the back of your tongue down and the tip down and then use the part of the tongue just behind your piercing.
Or you can try and keep the whole tongue down in the mouth and use the part in front of the piercing. It will be close , but I suppose it is do-able.

Can you remove the piercing? Yes. You can remove it while you play and then put it directly back in.

Be gald you didn't do what a trumpet player did in my group last month. She put piercings in her mouth/lip. Now she leaks all the time.

its not that bad...
doesnt really affect your playing unless your tongue swells or you got it up really far
