Well, im an 8th grader, so my advice, if you want a challenging piece, would be variations on a dorian theme, by gordon jacobs, though when i found out about it, i had to get it in san antonio, so if you want somthing challenging, but a word, its a few movements, but they all have hard rythems, in some places, dynamics are key, and some other stuff. Yea

I`m in 12 grade and i play a saprano, alto, bari, and tenor sax. Im an expert i`v been playing for 12 years. I have played some good music but it is quite boring i play with a college band and i am in a bluse band and swing band and a jazz band and a navy band. it is pretty fun also including i have my own band but off the chase there is some good sites for the sax. you can go to 8notes.com or free-scores.com or windmusic.com and virtualsheetmusic.com you might have to pay a little bit of money only a few dollars and possibly download some things but just to let you know there is some gopod sites. Go to them now. the songs are to easy for me but they are just right for the people who have been playing for a few years. check it out.

I`m a sophomore, been playing for about 5 years. I`m behind many of you all, still got 2 more scales to learn, but I`m working on blues scales here and there since I play guitar. I`m in symphonic band and we have about 5 or 6 bands at my high school. Symphonic, concert, jazz, marching, and maybe blues next year if I can talk the director into making it. I see a lot of you all real into playing sax and that`s cool. But to those that are in middle school and thinks its easy, if you can, try to find a midi or a recording of the song "Sol Y Sombra", then tell me sax is easy. You`ll learn to hate "and of one" sixteenth note runs and sixteenth note tripelets real quick. At least I have a month before we go back so I can attempt to make a dent into it. I`m starting to call it murderer`s run.

If any of y`all want something that`s really challenging, try "Variations on Carnival of Venice". That was my solo piece for Solo & Ensemble. It`ll give you a run for your money. Also, "Canon in D Minor" is a good one. Some parts are a little tough, but the real challenge is style.

If you are having trouble reatching the lower notes just drop your jaw like an `aw` type thing

i play sax and my class is really boring. If your school has a stand with sheet music for higher bands on it or old school music you should try to get some off it. I know my school does....but its still easy lol.

Wow... everyone is in 8th grade. I feel old. I am in 11th. I like the music we get. It is pretty good. (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Themes Like Old TImes.... Woo) and I have an exam coming up and I need to find some scales (F+, C+, G+, D+, A+, E+, and B+). If you guys can help me out with that, that would be rockin`. God hate scales. Blah. Anyhoo, chao
