So I was watching a video of the Rolling Stones perform "Ruby Tuesday" on the Ed Sullivan show; here's the URL, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvVp4mw0Gx8
But for the life of me, I can't figure out what type of recorder Brian Jones is playing (i.e., soprano, alto, tenor, bass).

Initially I figured it was not soprano because it looked bigger than one, plus some of the notes he plays go well below the low C on the soprano recorder (the lowest recorder note I am aware of in the song is a G; being perfect 4th below the low C on a soprano recorder.)

I tried looking at Jones's fingering to see if I can tell what he's playing. The best shot I could find was at timecode 2:30. Here I know for a fact that the heard note is an F, but he does not appear to be playing an F; it looks more like a soprano/tenor G or an alto C.

I'm sure if they had the camera on Brian Jones the entire time, I might have better luck figuring it out. If anyone here can figure it out, please enlighten me. Thanks.

I think I just figured it out. At timecode 0:55 - 0:57 Brian Jones appears to be playing an F then an E (on an alto recorder) and the sound that is heard is, indeed, an F then an E.

But if that's the case, I'm still confused at the fingering observation that I made in my post above; the sounds that are heard in both instances are the very same F, yet the one at 2:31 does not appear to be fingering for an F.

Anyone care to speculate?
