Hi, I currently play on some cheap plastic soprano I found in my house (I have no idea where it came from). I've got the recorder basics down and now I want to upgrade my recorder. I live in New York City so I'm wondering if there are any recorder vendors or recorder models you guys can recommend to me. I don't think I have the money for wooden recorders, so plastic will have to do. Also, I would like a recorder that can play a wide range of notes, although I'm not sure what type of recorder is best suited for this. I appreciate your input in this matter.
If you need to stay with plastic, the Yamaha "Rottenburgh" line is well known for being good. Most online vendors sell them. If you don't mind doing some driving, Courtly Music is in Warrensburg, NY. Their web site is here: http://www.courtlymusic.com/
They list the Dolmetsch "Nova" plastic recorders. That is another good set of plastic recorders. They sound different than the Yamaha, so you'll have to see which you like better.
