I just started playing the recorder yesterday and can not seem to always get clear sounds, it`s usually high and squeaky. I`m trying to keep the holes completely covered and used some kind of jelly that came with it on the joints, and not blowing very much, but I think air is still getting in, any ideas? I have another question I`ll post in a separate question.

well ... your recorder can have a great affect on the sound ... some recorders just aren`t worth the bit of money paid for them and won`t produce a good tone no matter who plays them.

it is a cheap recorder, but there are a few moments in time that it does actually produce a nice deep clear sound...I`m thinking operator error :-)
