Hello there,
To start off, I am not really a singer. Anyways, this year for our high school play we are doing "West Side Story", and I got cast as Tony (the male lead). I`m really not sure if I`m up to the part and I was wondering if you guys know of any excercises or anything like that to improve my voice. I`ve never taken any voice lessons, so chances are I`m doing everything wrong. Should I get a teacher? I`m really quite nervous about this, so answer ASAP.
Thanks

Well, a teacher would be nice, but they can be rather expensive, and I don`t know how much they`ll be able to help you in a short amount of time. I would probably recommend finding a book with cds online or something. I have "Singing for the Stars" from Seth Riggs, and a few other warm-up and exercise cds. I think something like that might help you. The Seth Riggs one might take longer than you have to prepare, but with a good exercise program such as one you might be able to order on cd you should start noticing a marked improvement within a 2-5 weeks. Hope that helped

Thank you very much. I have a long time before the play, rehearsals only start in January and the performance is in March. I will try to find a book like that. Thanks again!
