I suppose you do get better with practice but I feel the same way you do. I feel like I'm never going to get any better and that everyone laughs at me. Oh well, at least I know that someone can relate to me. If anyone knows the answer to your question, I would like to know too.

I couldn't understand you well, but ..... so when you sing with words, you are out of tune?

Omg. The same thing happens to me. What my voice teacher told me to do was to raise my soft pallete(I think that's how you spell it. lol) more, open my mouth more, and sort of smile when trying to hit the high notes. I could do this when practicing scales because I would just focus on that instead of the word I was saying but when I sang, I just couldn't do it for a while because I was focusing on everything else like the lyrics. I think that it could be fixed with practice because I've gotten a tid bit better at it I think. Do you take voice lessons? I think lessons might make a big difference because it did for me. Sorry if I wrote too much.

I used to have the same problem, could sing well with warm ups but bad when singing words. You just have to practice singing songs and eventually it will get better.

This is going to sound like the stupidest thing ever, but, oh well, here goes: Try to sing along with as many different kinds of songs that you can handle (pop, rock, classical, jazz, show tunes, etc.). Try to match, then work on adding your own "timbre" or "color" to the music. If you want to get more adventurous, come up with random counter-melodies and harmonies that work with those songs. This is what I did to get myself better at singing, granted I haven't got the best voice, but it did improve. Also, if you have sheet music for songs, try playing along with a piano on the melody and then add the accompaniment after you master the melody on your own.

Don't say that you stink. Just keep telling yourself that you're getting better and don't worry about what others think. I've had to get over it myself too. I know exactly how you feel. But don't say you stink, trust me. Everyone told me to quit saying that. lol. I'm sure your better than you think you are.

Same here (kinda)!! I don't think I'm very good, but people said I was. I thought they were saying that to be nice, but my music teacher said I did sing pretty well. I stopped singing when I reached middle school because I wanted to do band (and my friend is really good and I felt I couldn't compare to her).
Basically, I wish I was in choir sometimes. DON'T THINK YOU SUCK!!! Chances are that you're really good!! It's called self-judgement; everyone is hard on themselves and think they can do a lot better, when they are good in real life.
Hope this helps!!
