Recently, my guitarist wanted me to become the singer of our band because I've been really trying to learn to sing and I guess he has faith in me. I been through a lot of programs in hopes of learning to be atleast decent without too much success. Right now, I've been practicing with Brett Manning's singing success; I heard its the best you can get.

But, when I'm singing with a song, or practicing on a piano I can hit the notes without much of a problem, But I sound really uninterested, or too breathy (even when I try altering my breathing; I'm still not that good at breathing). Generally, I sound kinda doopy =p. I've tryed many different ways with no luck. Any suggestions? Anything will do. Thank you! =)

Thats kinda what I'm learning now; I guess I just need to be persistent.

If I feel comfortable enough I'll post something up for opinions and advise

Although breathing is certainly important, most beginning singers place too much emphasis on it. You can only really control the flow of the breath (i.e., how much of it you allow to come out of your lung and past your vocal folds), and even then it's best not to overthink it. It's hard to tell without actually hearing you, but the main focus in learning to sing at first should be to free up anything that's getting in the way of a free voice. Usually that will be tensing of muscles that shouldn't be tensed. Watch out for any feeling of tension/overwork in the throat and tongue especially.

Much luck!
