Information required for GCSE coursework

For my gcse design and technology course i am making a microphone stand. I am just wondering what people on a whole would like a microphone stand to be able to do/have.

e.g. "I would like a microphone stand that holds a microphone, lyrics and drinks, I do not play guitar so plectrum holder is not a must for me. A one handed operation would be good and it would be helpful if it folded down to make it compact and easy to carry."

It would be helpful if you could think of some ideas that could be incorparated into a microphone stand and what the microphone stand would idealy do (besides the obvious of "it must hold a microphone")
