Hi all. I'm an rnb/soul singer and desperate to start gigging, but have no clue where to start- how long should a set be? how much should I charge? do you need your own equipment? how best to negotiate a gig?

I'd really appreciate some advice so I can get this show on the road!

No, I haven't sung much in public, a wedding/ party or two, but I'm desperate to start.

There is a live scene in my town (west london), but I'm not sure how to get in, ask the right questions, what I need to actually get started- do I need my own equipment, covers or originals? demo. I'm really starting from scratch. But I am a good singer with classical training and really want to break away from my 9-5 life and start doing something I enjoy for a change.

Any 'getting started' advice would be a massive help.
