..ok...i dont have a composition teacher or anything..so i have to ask different people or look up my facts online...so help me out here..is this the straight forward classical form for the first movement of concerto?
Orchestral Exposition: (solo doesnt play throughout this exposition) "A" theme(tonic)..then "B" theme(dominant or corresponding major/minor)
Solo Exposition: Solo plays "A" theme...then a solo theme(dominant or corresponding major/minor key)
Development
Recapitulation: Theme "A"..theme "B"(but put in the tonic)...then parts of the solo theme reappear...then a coda..if i made any mistakes..or if i am completely off....TELL MEEE AND HELP ME OUT!!!..thank you

Let me get this straight: You want to know what the "correct" form is so that your piece will be...what? CORRECT?

lol...i want to know an EXACT form..there is not really such a thing as a correct form..because every composer tends to bend rules or even break them..such as the Rachmaninov second piano concerto or Schumann piano concerto..or even the Beethoven quasi fantasia sonata(the one yall decide to call the moonlight)..i just want a more accurate approach to composing the concerto..but nm now..i already composed it..its the longest piece i`ve ever written and definetely the hardest..

I don`t get what you mean by "exact". If there is no correct form "because every composer tends to bend rules or even break them" then, a fortiori, there can be no exact form either. Moreover, why should you arbitrarily want to impose on yourself a form you only know of from the Internet?

lol..im sorry...but ur missin my point...for example..ternary form is A B A correct?..some composers use it as an A theme then a development then a recap..or it can be an A theme then an entirely different B theme..then a recap.....and a typical rondo can be A B A C A..but a composer mite have the tendeny to do A B A C B..or something of that sort..same thing with Sonata Allegro for concertos...I`m just trying to follow the.."original" form..while maybe bendin a few rules but not entirely breakin the whole form..lol..am i makin a lil sense now? holla bak

Re: "lol..am i makin a lil sense now? holla bak"

You`d make a hell of a lot more sense if you`d learn to spell and use proper punctuation. There IS NO "exact" sonata form, and the classical composers who made use of the various forms we customarily group under the rubric did so because it was a natural thing to them given their time, culture, and milieu, none of which--presumably--you share with them. If you were a music student, on the other hand, you might have been assigned the form as an academic exercise, but you had already said that you are NOT a music student.
