have you tryed your augmented and diminished chords??there always good look for different progreesions when mucking aroud with chromatic scales that works

Mucking around on a keyboard, until something I like happens, is method I usually like to use.
Then again, I also sometimes like to bang my head on a keyboard until something I like happens (not advisable: it takes a while)

Just out of interest in my young a keith jarret fan...cause i can see the similarities...
but i fully agree with when it comes to composing its gotta come from within but it also helps to have music theory background(the boring bits of music)when writing music so your harmonies, melodies and chords make sense.

try making up your own chords. I do it on guitar, and the results are often quite interesting! My only problem is, i don't know how to name them.
