That's a video from the movie Drumline. At the beginning, the band plays Apache (The version by the Sugar Hill Gang). I'm trying to figure out the part at 0:40 to 0:45.
Somebody please help me! I can't find any sheet music with that part in it, and I can't seem to figure it out by ear.
Try getting some cleaner versions thru YouTube. How accurate does your transcription have to be? It's possible (likely?) that the Sugar Hill Gang version is using sampled brass lines, which could have been chopped up in "non-realistic" ways. If you guys are going to play Apache live, some brass lines might need tweaking anyway, just to get them to "sit" on your horns properly.
No time right now – I'll try to check it out later. Cheers, zoom.
btw – did you see those Miles YouTube clips I posted on one of your other Q's?
I think I have it figured out.
I listened to the actual Sugar Hill Gang version, and I finally figured it out.
You're right, the version in the video wasn't clear enough.
I was arranging the song for marching band, and I found the Drumline video on an afterthought. I'll post my arrangement on the forums as soon as I put the finishing touches on the piece.
Thanks for your response, though!
And no, I didn't see those videos. I'll check them out!
