If your horn has rotory valves you want to only use rotory valve oil. Piston valve oil (for tru mpets)will destroy your valves. Sewing machine oil will be too thick. You can make your own - but I do not suggest it unless you are doing it with someone who understands how to do it and have all the right stuff (kerosene, etc)- otherwise the oil will be too thick or too thin and ruin your valves.

Wait until you get the rotory valve oil (maybe there will be some in the case).

You should oil the valves before you play.
Here is how:
Remove the caps on top and place a spot of oil on the center of the rotor. Then put the valve back on. Put a drop on the back where the rotor bearing comes out. Put several drops in each valve slide, push the slide all the way closed, turn your horn upside down and push the valve levers open and closed.
Put several drop in your leadpipe before you put the mouthpiece in.

This should do you well to start.
