Well... My teacher wants me to switch to tuba and i think i want to. I can read bass clef and i know the fingerings, but i am first chair trumpet and i dont know if i want to give that up. should i? its up to you!

First of all, Tubas are indeed one of the Best Band instruments
However, if you are Lead trumpet, you should Remain the Lead trumpet.
If you were a 2nd player, then it might be more logical.

I love tuba, lots, so here is my idea to help you switch, because i think you should. I think you should stay a trumpet player, but ask your director(assuming you have one) to borrow a tuba, and start learning to play, after you're confident enough to complete the switch, just go!
