Hey everyone,
I just started playing BBb Tuba for my High School Band. Does anybody have any advice? Also, we are marching right now, so does anybody have advice for the sousaphone too and how to make it more comfortable to wear, besides pads that I am using?

I've play sousaphone in about 30 parades a year (without pads). And trust me, after you adjust it on your shoulders there aren't any other ways I know about to get it more comfortable. After a couple of parades you usually get used to it.

Thanks and I am not using pads anymore, since it hurts either way, but not so much anymore.

Are you using a fiberglass or a brass sousaphone? Because if you are using a fiberglass I would suggest using the pad on the bottom anyways. Or else the sousaphone will get a big crack on the bottom (trust me, I know from experience!)

Not necessarily. Some do. But I would Prefer a king fiberglass sousaphone over a Yamaha Brass Sousaphone. But Most of the time the brass sounds better.
