hello everyone im pretty new to this forum and I need help
my head director has told me to be the "band hero" and march sousaphone this marching season, because we have one incoming freshmen and we need 8, which is why I was recruited. I have no experience with a tuba, let alone a sousaphone. I have been playing trombone for 5 years now, I have a fingering chart for sousaphone, but I dont know what a B flat sounds like and the tuners i have don't work.
If anyone has any tips for me, or can post a link to a video explaining how to play this thing please do so
thanks and happy marching

Hey I'm new to sousaphone this year to. It is hard at first to figure out if you are playing the right note, but the best thing to do is just try some lip slurs and see how that works for you. If you need to know how to play a Bb just play a low Bb on your trombone and that will be the high Bb on the Tuba. Just start at the high Bb and work your way down to an F and then a low Bb. All the other notes will just fall into place.
