Annette Cantor, one of the top new age vocalists of recent years, is back with a new album, SONGS TO THE GODDESS. Except for one background chant, the singing is all wordless vocalizing. All of the mostly-acoustic instruments are played by well-known new age pioneer Deuter.
Because there are no words, just beautiful singing, this music crosses all boundaries and is truly international. The singing with no words also makes the music incredibly relaxing, spiritually pleasing and soulfully moving.
The eight tunes on the album -- ranging in length from five-minutes to nine-minutes -- each focuses on capturing embodying (in music) the spirit of some of the great goddess figures from the world’s religions over the past many thousands of years of history. All of them relate to the planet and sort of serve as Mother Earth figures, so there is a continuity inherent in this goddess theme despite different continents and cultures.
Cantor sort of sounds like a singing goddess herself with her beautiful, pure, soaring, gliding voice that flies like an eagle over the landscape. For anyone enchanted by new age vocals, this album is a recommended choice. Her dot com is titled annettesings.
