Just another quick poll to 'get acquainted' with everyone. My favorite musical is Mel Brooks' The Producers. The why part is tricky for me. Not really sure, but that's the great thing about Mel Brooks - you don't know why you're laughing at it. But the musical is hilariously satirical. The Producers was my first Broadway musical, and I'm hoping it won't be my last. Gary Beach as Hitler (really, Gary Beach, actor, as Roger De Bris, director, as Adolf Elizabeth Hitler, dictator [and I'm sure we now know why Hitler was trying to create a Master Race! ]) was phenomenal. He is truly the best actor, from my opinion. A truly once-in-a-lifetime spectacle. Springtime for Hitler is one of the most memorable scenes from any musical/play/etc. It's nice (in a way) to see Hitler as a campy, all-around, not-knowing-the-repercussions-of-what-you-are-doing kind of a guy, mimicking people from Judy Garland to Angela Lansbury. It was so sad to leave, and Oh! how I wanted the casts's autoghraphs!!! Hopefully, I didn't go too far off on a tangent.

My favorite stage musicals are Phantom of the Opera, Aida, Wicked, and Jekyll and Hyde; based purely on the music.

Movie Musicals, I loke Singing in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and the King and I; these because of the storylines.

I also love the story lines to the Stage musicals too, it came out wrong up there. I didn't know what my all time favorite one when I wrote earlier, but now I remember. Fiddler on the Roof! I love it, music, story, everything!

i really love most musicals. i guess my favourite ones would be phantom of the opera, wicked,mary poppins, lion king and the sound of music. i really love the songs in them.

Not to take up space for other people, but am I some sort of freak for loving The Producers? Everyone else has listed musicals such Phantom, Wicked, etc. I guess I can see how some people don't really prefer it, but I don't know why not... The only other person that loves The Producers as much as I do, is my cousin's boyfriend. Maybe it's just some one in a billion phenomenon.

I love Phantom because it was the first musical I saw on Broadway (I bought the recording and music book the very next day), RENT because my best friend got me into it (even though I'm not fond of the storyline), Wicked is for the same reason as RENT, Into The Woods because it was the first musical I worked on, South Pacific because the music was unforgiving but fun, and Music Man because I just like the story!

We just had our All-Stars Band concert today, and we played some highlights from Fiddler on the Roof. It went really well considering the entire band (made up of people from a bunch of different schools) gets together in one day to learn it all together (of course, each school learns their parts on their own time until the day of the concert when we have a new conductor to teach us different aspects of the music). Even though I'm male, the music for "Matchmaker" is one of my favorites. All-together though, I like every piece from the highlights we played, including "Fiddler On The Roof", "If I Were A Rich Man", "Sunrise, Sunset", "Matchmaker", and "Tradition".

My two faves are RENT and Fiddler on the Roof. THey just have great, serious moments in them that really make you think about life. But hey, if your not into that, just watch all the cool dance and special effects scenes!
