In reference to duos such as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, Rodgers and Hart, etc., does anyone think there is a greater quality of songwriting than in musicals with numbers done solo or at choice pairings, such as those by Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Schwartz, and Jerry Herman? Maybe just the opposite?
