I heard this song a couple of times and realized that I had absolutely no idea what the chords were, which is pretty rare for me with pop songs. I tried figuring it out by memory but I was getting nowhere. So I downloaded the track, cut up specific chord bits in a wave editor and figured them out one by one. And after figuring it out all I can say is ALICIA ROCKS !

I`m not that good with English chord terminology (I`m Serbian), so I`m gonna try some ascii staves here (upper - treble, lower - bass).

If that doesn`t make any sense, maybe this will help (first note is bass, play it an octave lower than the rest):

Chord 1: B + C# + E + G#
Chord 2: G# + C + F# + A
Chord 3: C# + B + E + G#
Chord 4: F# + A# + E + G#

The chromatic fill isn`t hard to figure out, it starts from G#. The 4th chord is retriggered, I didn`t write that (really had no idea how to), but you can hear that. So anyway, hope this hepls...

Boy, those staves look like SH*T ! I didn`t know this thing doesn`t put blank spaces like like I intended. Just stick to the "mathematic" transcription. Bye...

I have not figured out the chords, but she took them from Eddie Kendricks "Intimate Friends"

Boris has it right, but I think Alicia plays it more jazzy.
The way I hear it, she plays these chords:

F#-9 /B G#+5(b9) C#-9 F#13

(Listen to the song at 1.04 - 1.07 or 2.12 - 2.17 minutes where she stops playing the bassnotes on her rhodes to hear it clearly)

this are the notes of the chords to play:

LH: RH:
B - a c# e g#
G# - c e f# a
C# - b d# e g#
F# - a# d# e g#

(LH=left hand; RH=right hand)

I hope this helps!

it`s really easy...all she is doing is walking up playing octaves but melodically. So here`s the notes:

G#-G# A-A A#-A# B-B-B-B-B-B-B C#

I hope that works for you just play them in octaves melodically...if you need any more clarification just let me know ok

Tnx Jelle! And here some notes that you can use to jamm:

C#, E, F#, G, G#, B

Just standard because the song is in F#, but some might not know, these notes...

What about the part where she goes:

No thing, No money, No sin, No temptation I`m talkin` bout loving
No thing, No money, No sin, No temptation I`m talkin` bout nothing

are those different chords?
