I`m a professional pianist who only recently has begun to explore jazz. I`d like to know if there`s a particular book that gets the most recommendations as a way to learn jazz chordings and riffs. I`m open to any suggestions, really, in terms of how best to pick up jazz. I`m more into the mellow/vocal jazz idioms.

if you have a good ear, try to do solo transcriptions of Oscar Peterson and try to understand how he play with the chords. But this is step #1000. You might be ok with Tommy flanagan or Winton Kelly, or even.
