Hey,
I'm pretty new to jazz music and was hoping that someone can point me towards some french sounding, accordian, late night, film noir, mellow trumpet type stuff. I really have no idea of similar artists but I have this sound in my head!! Would appreciate any suggestions that I could check out!
Thanks.

Wynton Marsalis is a good all-around trumpet player.

Check out Miles Davis playing Round Midnight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mji4nAk_8ZY (sorry – no accordion!)

I looked around on YouTube for Chet Baker material – apparently a whole bunch has been removed recently. Oh well. Lawyers, I'd say; any advertising/marketing people will be ruing the missed opportunity.

I'm pretty sure Django recorded some stuff with horns – any suggestions, anyone?

Have you looked at the Ellington band's more laid-back material? You might be interested in the plunger-muted sounds of Bubber Miley and Rex Stewart (and Tricky Sam Nanton on trombone).

Does it have to be trumpet? Late-night sax any good?
