Did anyone happen to catch the Grammy's Sunday night? Any particular performances that you liked? Do you think that everyone who won should have or not won?
Personally, I was disappointed and suprised that Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band was not recognized by even one reward. Not to discredit the other jazz bands and singers that received recognition but Big Phat Band has been committed to the jazz industry and is generally more recognizable than those who actually won. Awards handed out for "Best Instrumental Arrangement", "Best Instrumental Composition", and "Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album" have been given in the past to jazz musicians and recognizable ones with more than a couple hundred albums sold. I continue to enjoy Big Phat Band's music and hope that listeners will join with me in bringing this to the eyes of fans and supporters of jazz music.
