Karen Carpenter is my ultimate female vocalist. She sang in perfect pitch, tune and clarity. Her voice was crystal claer. she had excellent breath control and her voice although soft and tender was bold and authorative. Not only was she a great vocalist of all-time she was also an excellent drummer. She specialized in complex jazz progressions. She was a naturally gifted musician.

Karen Carpenter had the most unique and intimate voice of any artist. KD Lang is close to it.

Cass Elliot also known as "Mama Cass" from the Mama`s and the Papa`s is up there as one of the best all-time female vocalists in my book. Her voice has such a natural and easy quality and she could sing a ballad with the best of them.

The Wilson Sisters who sang for Heart were, in my opinion, excellent. Not only were they great singers, but they were also very skilled guitar players.
