Well first off if you`re 13, I guarantee you don`t play any of those instruments well. Learn one instrument for now > guitar, because its the most advanced instrument... Then get a book on learning to read music.

Nobody would consider you a `good` player after just three years on ANY instrument.

Re: "Well first off if you`re 13, I guarantee you don`t play any of those instruments well. Learn one instrument for now > guitar, because its the most advanced instrument... Then get a book on learning to read music."

1) Why do you assume he can`t read music? Because he manifestly can`t write English? 2) The guitar is certainly not "the most advanced instrument", whatever the hell you might mean by that ridiculous phrase, and obviously he`ll be much more likely to get hired if his main instrument is an orchestral instrument, which the guitar is not. 3) There are many musicians who played extremely well at thirteen. Your "guarantee" is worthless.

I could read music when I was 11 when I started playing piano and I`m 15 now so don`t say no one at the age of 13 can read music. You probably can`t even read music so don`t start critizing other people.

I am 14 years old.

I have known how to read music since I was eight or nine years old.

Guitar is the most advanced instrument out there? Clearly, you`ve never played a Bach fuge on the organ.

Of course, I wouldn`t know what an elbow is since I don`t play guitar.

Define what you mean by "read" music.

Re: "By reading music, Im not talking tabs, I mean actual music reading.."

You can see about a millimeter in front of your nose. I`ve never in my life encountered someone so myopic. Try to grasp this: The original poster asked about becoming an ORCHESTRA teacher, NOT joining a rock group in your mommy`s basement. You`re way, way out of your league. I learned to read music at age seven. I hadn`t even heard of tablature until my late teens--and I wasn`t missing anything.

"Secondly... Would you call Jimi Hendrix an advanced musician?"

I would call him a talented, but extremely limited rock musician. If he`d lived longer he might have realised his potential, but this is speculation.

Re: "Would you say musically he was on par with Bach at least?"

That`s absurd. Bach was the master of tonal counterpoint. Hendrix couldn`t even read music. His face went blank when Miles Davis mentioned the term "diminshed seventh chord".

Re: "Ok, Jimi Hendrix knew how to play 3 scales - Minor Penatonic, Major Penatonic, & Penatonic Blues..."

I`m quite sure he knew how to play a diatonic scale.

Re: "There are dozens of scales for guitar"

There are NO scales FOR GUITAR. A scale is not specific to any instrument.

"If that doesnt prove how advanced guitar is.. I`m not sure what will -"

What it demonstrates is the severe limitation of your knowledge, experience, imagination, and intelligence.

Re: "There are more styles of guitar playing than you morons can imagine because all you idiots listen to is Nirvana & Green Day."

I`ve only heard one Nirvana song (just once) in my entire life, and I`ve never heard a single Green Day song. I`m really not interested.

Sorry about sounding so rude in my previous post. I just got back from an organ lesson, and it is one of the hardest instruments I`ve ever attempted to learn (I have been learning basic acoustic guitar, and it`s not easy, but I think that organ is harder). Anyway, lol (I`m talking to the poster, not actually "laughing out loud"), I was just wondering what instruments you have experience with. If you can say that Hendricks is on par with Bach, have you had any Classical (meaning the genre, not the time period) experience? Do you study theory?

Please don`t call me a moron. I spend a whole heck of a lot of time researching the Classical genre. Don`t you dare insult the hours of study that I have put in to making myself become a better musician.

I`m not being mean to you, Tyler. I was trying to prove a point to lol who has his head so far up his butt. Stop being big headed...you lack musical knowledge. You`re not a know it all, so shut your mouth. Yes I could read music from the age of 11, and I`m talking about staff notation music. I can also read guitar tabs and drum patterns. My music school does classes from 3+ so yeah, many people can read music UNDER 13. I bet you`re the one who cannot read staff notation. Also if you`re so good at music tell me what crescendo,diminuendo,rallentando,forte,mezzo-piano and legato mean? If you get all these words, I still won`t belive you...more like you did a search on google. You`re the idiot, not us.
