Some very good choices, indeed. However, Cobain is no musician and I am ashamed that you put him alongside Page and Hendrix. However, I am glad that you included the often overlooked Robby Krieger. But let me give you my list now:
1. Jimmy Page (no contest)
2. Jimi Hendrix
3. Angus Young
4. Keith Richards (underused by the Stones in many cases)
5. Steve Miller (insanely underrated)
6. Gary Rossington (also insanely underrated)
7. David Gilmour
8. Eric Clapton
Steve Vai
John Pertrucci
Joe Satriani
Joe Walsh
Joe Pass (one of the greatest jazz guitarist)
Phil/Tommy Emmanual (just cause ive played with phil lol)
These guitarist are mainly for musicianship, for the ecceptional ability to play guitar and therefore my opinion of best guitar player!
Why is everyone on here so obsessed with how skiilled the guitarists are. Skill has !****! all to do with actually making good music. Also Tom Verlaine is one of the greatest guitarists ever.
"Buddy, i've played guitar for 3 years. JOHNNY RAMONE DID NOT BELIEVE IN SOLOING. I could pick up ramones songs as soon as i knew power chords. Cobain doesn't always use power chords, actually has solos, and his notes are much more compicated. Don't tell me I know nothing about guitar."
Sorry, I just have a funny story about this man. My guitar teacher, is pretty good, anyways he played with some of the greats, not alway for concerts, I know he played around with the Dead for a bit, anyways he played a gig with The Ramones, before the gig fellow band mates asked Johnny if he was "in tune", he told them that he was "in tune" after all he had been playing his guitar for the past couple hours, he did this using profanities, he didn't realise that by "in tune" they meant with the band, not himself. End of the story is that he went onstage completly out of tune to the band and made a fool of himself to the band, none of the fans noticed, or said anything, but it's those flaws that make a big difference. By the I know a 7 year old kid that has a year on you in experience.
