Yeah i completely agree with that. Everyone goes with what sounds good but never even know what the musics about. I dont think its wrong for people to like those bands but its like they claim to be apart of a scene that they know nothing about. Yeah i really dont care for alot of this new sh*t that they slap a "punk" label on. I`m ESPECIALLY sick of all this pop sh*t watering down all that that is TRUE rock. Its like they all f*cking pose with instruments they dont play or wear band shirts that they probably never heard of. (like kelly clarkson wearing that sex pistols shirt.....i mean, if she`s into them thats cool but its just that whole IMAGE that they`re trying to SELL that bugs me) I totally agree, alot of this new stuff is too softcore to be apart of the scene. I know things change but damn.....the line between pop and punk grows thinner and thinner......

it`s hardly wasting time if you`re just putting your opinion out there and seeing if anyone agrees. I do agree that the definition of punk has been mutated alot in these past years. Punk was/is a way of life, just because most people NEVER SEE IT doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Half the people in here still havent named any punk bands....muse?? white stripes?? they`re good bands, but the subject is punk.

umm...i`m 12 yrs. old I really like punk rock and I just wanted to ask for some suggestions for which bands i should listen to instead of the other bands like Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance, etc....I want to listen to some really GOOD punk rock, any suggested bands i should listen too?

Alright, Avril Lavigne does not write her own music. She has admitted to being punk and she also claims to be this unbelievable guitarist. See, I write articles for pure enjoyment and I, of course, had to write about this pop-punk phenomenon. Avril Lavigne has told several magazines/interviewers that she is a "hardcore punk skater chick". Those, I swear, are her words and not mine. Also, if anyone has seen one of her albums before and checked the "written by:" area on it, you would find that she has only written one of her songs. And she didn`t even do it by herself, always a co-writer. Where do you think "Sk8er Boi" came from? That was a song that was never popular but she ripped and re-did it. Also, if you look on her album, you will see that she plays guitar in none of her songs, yet in so many interviews, she claims to kick butt at guitar. Even on her AOL video conference she had a member of her band playing in the back ground. That is ridiculous. She had one song to preform and she couldn`t even play her own guitar. Come on, Avril, hunny, get out of the scene. All you are doing is brainwashing the twelve year olds before they can realize how much of a poser you are.
