Television is a band that sounds nothing like anything else.

Television? Are you kidding me? Talk about a band that sounds just like other bands. I could name a dozen.

Try every run-of-the-mill punk band of the 70's/80's. Blah. They're boring.

Why do people try to insist on being cool by saying they only listen to old bands from the 60's-70's-80's? Face it, it's almost 2007.

Turn on any college radio station online or on iTunes. You'll hear some new, refreshing music that hasn't been made by some has-been drug addict.

Woah you've quite obviously never heard Television. Can you name me an actual example of one of the 'run of the mill punk bands from the late 70s/80s' that sounds like them?

And also people like 60s-70s-80s music because its good to listen to, not because they want to be cool. Lewt people listen to what they want you !***** facist.

Well then why do people always bash others who like Panic or other new bands? If people on here are allowed to voice their opinions and hate Panic with no evidence to back it up, then I can too.

To me, Television sounds like The Ramones, Velvet Underground, New York Dolls (back in the day, not their new one, which isn't too bad though, I was surprised), The Heartbreakers...all those punk bands sort of blend together after a while to me.

1. I never bashed Panic at the Disco even though i really dislike them
2. You've quite obviously never heard Television before because they sound nothing like any of those bands. Just cos the originated from the CBCG doesn't mean they sound the same as the other bands from there
3. The Velvet Underground isn't a punk band

Yes, I've heard of Television. We have some of their cd's at the radio station that I am in charge of. So I've heard a great deal of music over the years. I'm just giving my opinion.

I have read this post and reread it, and I'm confused. I understand some people don't like Panic! and I understand that some people don't like Tool and other bands of the like. But what I don't understand is, why the haters? Why not say, "Oh I don't like Panic! I think it sucks" or "Hey Panic! Is pretty cool" And leave it at that? I mean, I like Panic!, but so? It's my opinion right? What upsets me is that people say "PATD sucks and people who listen to them losers are !*****! and stupid and don't know good music." What's to say people don't listen to other music? I mean, if you don't like the band, fine. Don't diss the people who listen to it. It's their lives and they don't need hassle. Same with people getting mad about all the stuff with "Oh Tool sucks." You know what? It's not worth fighting about. It's music. There are different tastes. It's life.

Basically what most of you said was that anyone who says they hate PATD must have no reason to dislike them other then the fact that they are considered "emo". or that they're new. While that may be true for some people, The people in here seem to have another reason for not liking them.

P.S. I play flute. I love marching bands.

Some one in this forum said people in marching bands are losers. And it offended me.

I can't imagin why playing an instrument would be any relevence to music knowledge. *sarcasm*

have you ever heard Monica Attell? Her album is called Band Geek and she plays flute. It's like a mix of Ben Folds / Tori Amos / Fiona Apple. It's awesome.

Okay, I like those bands some, but I very highly doubt they are the best bands on earth. I'm sure there are a few bands a little better than them.
